Monday 22nd July
What a victorious day! We found a van part! Hooray! Now for the bad news, it’s down south in Adelaide – let’s see how the postal service is!
To celebrate and to say thank-you, we treated Bri and Tristan to dinner. We went to a lovely restaurant called Magic Wok in Darwin. You pick your own food from a raw buffet – an assortment of vegetables and meat, including beef, emu, kangaroo and crocodile! Then you pass it to the chefs who add some noodles and sauce and cook your personalised stir fry! I tried emu, kangaroo, camel and crocodile! Crocodile was quite nice, camel was not, and the other two I couldn’t tell haha!
Tuesday 23rd July
We said goodbye to Bri, Tristan and the animals, packed our stuff into the van and headed to a campsite in Coolalinga.
We decided we had to stay here for a while – we were waiting on bank cards (which we’d ordered as soon as we’d arrived in Aus…) and the van part.
As a treat, I pulled out the recipe book my mum had written for me before I left and we had yummy homemade spag bol for tea!
Wednesday 24th July
Today we chilled at the campsite, job hunting and watching Netflix. Turns out it’s actually quite difficult to get in job in NT Australia! We expanded the search to Cairns as that was our next destination but still no luck.
Thursday 25th July
I decided to start using my time wisely and go for a morning swim! The pool was freeeeezing! But I felt good doing some exercise as I hadn’t done any since I left home – oops! I also found a friend by the pool – a lovely green praying mantis!
We ventured out today, to the post office to deliver letters and shopping for supplies!
Friday 26th July
A theme has begun – swim, eat, campsite, chill, cook haha! Just waiting. We’re unable to drive much because of the broken van – we can’t risk making it worse so we’re making the most of our extended weekend!
Made a gorgeous curry for tea from our new recipe book!
Saturday 27th July
Ventured out again today to the local charity shops – I love the Vinnie’s and Salvos here, their really good for clothes with a massive variety! I found 4 items for $22 – bargain!
Sunday 28th July
Another chill day, proud to report I’m still swimming every day! I’m normally the only one there and thankfully it gets slightly less cold each time…
Next week… Week 6
